Artisan Promotion
The Artisan Promotion Scheme is implemented by the Delhi Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Minorities & Safai Karamchari Finance & Development Corporation (DSFDC), Government of NCT of Delhi. The scheme aims to support artisans who have taken financial assistance from the Corporation by providing them opportunities to participate in major trade fairs and exhibitions. Through this initiative, artisans are nominated to represent their craft at national-level platforms such as Shilpotsav, India International Trade Fair, East Himalaya Expo, and Surajkund Mela.
The main objective of the scheme is to provide marketing exposure, improve product visibility, and help artisans increase their income. To reduce financial burden, the Corporation and concerned National Apex Corporations provide support towards travel expenses, daily allowance, accommodation, and related costs. This initiative encourages artisans to expand their market reach and build sustainable livelihoods.
Key Features
- Participation in Exhibitions: Selected artisans are given an opportunity to display and sell their products in well-known exhibitions. These events attract large numbers of visitors and buyers, helping artisans improve their business prospects.
- Sponsorship Support: The scheme reduces the financial burden on artisans by covering participation-related expenses through Corporation support.
- Travel and Stay Assistance: Depending on the category, artisans receive reimbursement for travel by train or bus, daily allowance, and lodging support.
- Category-Based Norms: Financial assistance differs for SC, OBC, Minority, Safai Karamchari, and Persons with Disabilities categories as per the guidelines of respective National Finance & Development Corporations.
