The purpose of the scheme is to encourage enterprises to adopt advanced or specialised technology in order to improve productivity, reduce costs, and move up the value chain. The benefit for your business is that the state will provide financial assistance for part of your technology acquisition or upgradation cost - thereby reducing your investment burden and helping you upgrade your capabilities.

- Support for technology acquisition / upgradation – The scheme covers costs associated with acquiring specialised technology rather than simply buying machinery.
- Assistance rate and maximum limit vary depending on size of investment – For example under the 2017 revision: if investment in plant & machinery is up to ₹50 lakh, assistance @ 65% of cost (max ₹50 lakh); from ₹50 lakh–₹2 crore investment, assistance @ 60% (max ₹50 lakh); from ₹2 crore–₹10 crore investment, assistance @ 50% (max ₹50 lakh).
- Eligible for both new enterprises and existing enterprises for product/process upgradation – The scheme allows new enterprises performing tech acquisition for first‐time and existing enterprises aiming at new product or improved process.
- Exclusion of mere machinery purchase – The cost of plant/machinery or equipment purchase is not eligible under the scheme; the focus is on technology transfer/licensing/design etc.
- Application & claim process via prior approval – Applicants must obtain prior approval and then apply for disbursement based on actual expenditure.

Eligibility Criteria
Who can apply:
- New enterprises or existing MSME manufacturing units in Gujarat aiming for acquisition of technology for a specific product/process.
- Existing manufacturing unit diversifying or improving processes may be eligible under some versions.
- The technology must be acquired from a recognised institution, including design/drawing, technical consultancy etc. Machinery purchase alone is not eligible under older versions.
Who cannot apply:
- Units that only purchase plant & machinery without the technology component were not eligible.
- Enterprises already availing a similar subsidy for the same technology under another state scheme were ineligible.
- Projects that started technology acquisition or expenditure before scheme approval or outside the operative period.

- Justification note explaining specialized application of technology.
- Detailed cost estimate, royalty payment details , CA certificate of expenditure.

Option 2: Government Online/Offline Application
- Visit the official portal of the Industries & Mines Department, Government of Gujarat.
- Obtain prior approval: For technology acquisition applications, you must sign an MoU with technology provider and then apply within stipulated time (old version: within one year of MoU).
- Fill in the scheme application and submit with required supporting documents .
- After scrutiny by DIC/Industries Commissionerate and approval by State Level Implementation Committee , you will receive sanction letter.
- After technology has been implemented and expenditure incurred, claim reimbursement or grant as per approved quantum.
