Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Antyodaya Swarozgar Yojana
The Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Antyodaya Swarozgar Yojana is a scheme of the Government of Rajasthan, launched in the 2018-19 budget. Its purpose is to promote self-employment among loyal beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes and thereby uplift them economically. It offers concessional loans to the eligible households to establish self-employment ventures. The benefit to your business is that, if you are from the eligible community and wish to set up a small enterprise in Rajasthan, you may access this loan facility at a favourable interest rate, which can support your working capital or asset purchase.
Key Features
- Concessional loan up to ₹50,000 at 4% interest rate: Under this scheme, eligible families can access a loan of up to ₹50,000 at an interest rate of 4%. The scheme envisions providing a modest amount of credit to enable self-employment, especially for people from disadvantaged communities. The low interest rate keeps the cost of borrowing manageable.
- Target of about 50,000 families: The scheme targets about 50,000 families from SC/ST and other backward communities for this facility. This is a scale-up effort by the state to support many households. If you are eligible, you are one of the potential beneficiaries among these thousands.
- For self-employment ventures within Rajasthan: The loan must be utilised for setting up new self-employment projects within the state boundaries. The idea is to promote enterprise activity in the state, rather than migrating out; so your business will be based in Rajasthan and will involve self-employment rather than wage-employment.
- Focus on SC/ST and other backward classes: The scheme’s eligibility emphasises SC, ST, OBC, MBC categories. This means the scheme is targeted at disadvantaged communities to reduce economic disparities. Your community status matters for eligibility.
