Development of Silk Scheme
Development of Silk Scheme is a Government of Puducherry initiative implemented through the Department of Industries and Commerce / District Industries Centre (DIC). The scheme aims to revive and promote the silk weaving industry in the Union Territory by providing structured training to youth.
The main purpose is to create skilled silk weavers, generate employment, and support traditional textile craftsmanship. For you as an MSME aspirant or job seeker, this scheme helps you acquire specialised silk weaving skills, which can lead to employment in handloom units or enable you to start your own micro-enterprise in the textile sector.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be 18 to 35 years of age
- Must be a resident of Puducherry (minimum 3 years)
- Open to educated and uneducated youth
- Must be willing to undergo one-year training
- Selection based on eligibility and availability of seats
Non-eligibility conditions:
- Applicants below 18 or above 35 years
- Non-residents of Puducherry
- Applicants unwilling to complete full training
