EPF Reimbursement Scheme

The purpose of the scheme is to support MSMEs in hiring more employees by reimbursing the employer’s contribution to the Employees’ Provident Fund for new employees. The benefit for your business is: you will get reimbursement of your EPF out-go for eligible new employees, thereby reducing your cost of employment and improving your ability to expand workforce.
Key Features
- Reimbursement of employer’s EPF contribution for new employees – Your enterprise will get full or specified reimbursement of the “employer’s share” of EPF for each eligible new employee for a defined period.
- Cap on reimbursement amount per employee per month – The reimbursement is capped at the lesser of “12% of basic salary + DA” or ₹1,800 per month per employee.
- Support period of up to 10 years – For each eligible enterprise, the reimbursement is available for up to 10 years from the date of commercial production for eligible employees.
- Eligible for MSMEs starting new production or expansion – The scheme is targeted at new units or units undertaking expansion/diversification that create incremental employment.
- Only new employees count – The reimbursement applies only for new employees hired by the unit who meet certain criteria .

Eligibility Criteria
Who can apply:
- Enterprises registered as Micro, Small or Medium in Gujarat.
- New manufacturing units or existing units undertaking expansion / diversification within the scheme period .
- Employers who hire new employees whose UAN was not existing prior to joining the unit.
- The unit must commence commercial production within the scheme period; incentive eligibility begins from that date.
Who Cannot Apply:
- Employers claiming reimbursement for existing employees who already had UAN prior to joining the enterprise.
- Enterprises that have already availed EPF reimbursement under another scheme for the same period and employees.
- Units outside Gujarat, or those not meeting MSME classification or not undertaking eligible activity/new hiring as per guidelines.
Documents Required
- MSME / Udyam registration certificate or acknowledgment.
- Certificate of commencement of commercial production – date from which eligible period starts.
- Details of new employees: salary register, employer’s EPF contribution proof, Universal Account Number (UAN) details for each employee.
- Bank statements showing salary and EPF payments.
- Application form PDF filled and signed.
- Any approvals or eligibility certificates as required under the scheme guidelines.
- Undertaking that the enterprise has not availed similar reimbursement under another scheme for the same period/employees.

- Visit the official Investor Facilitation Portal of the Industries & Mines Department, Government of Gujarat.
- Register your company or login with existing credentials.
- Fill application form for “EPF Reimbursement” under the Atmanirbhar Gujarat MSME incentive scheme. Include new employee details, DoCP, employment register, EPF proof.
