Food Processing and Value Addition Management
Food Processing and Value Addition Management is a Government of Uttarakhand initiative implemented through the Department of Industries (via District Industries Centres – DICs) under the MSME Policy framework. The scheme focuses on promoting food processing units and value addition activities to enhance the income potential of agricultural produce in the state.
The primary objective is to encourage entrepreneurs to convert raw agricultural produce into processed and market-ready products, thereby reducing wastage and increasing profitability. For you as an MSME or startup, this scheme helps you build agro-based businesses with better margins, improved shelf life, and access to wider markets.
Key Features
- Agro-value chain development: The scheme helps you move up the value chain by converting raw produce into processed goods.
- Rural entrepreneurship focus: It supports businesses in rural areas, especially those linked to local agricultural produce.
- Reduction of wastage: Processing ensures better utilisation of perishable products like fruits and vegetables.
- Technology and modernization: Encourages adoption of improved machinery, packaging, and preservation techniques.
- Market expansion: Processed goods have longer shelf life and can reach larger markets beyond local areas.
