The Intellectual Property Right Scheme under the MSME Innovative Scheme aims to increase awareness, protection, and commercialisation of intellectual properties like patents, trademarks, designs, and geographical indications among MSMEs.

Highlights

Financial assistance for patent (domestic/foreign), trademark, design, and Geographical Indications (G.I.) registration.
Support via IP Facilitation Centres (IPFCs) across India for counselling, filing, and advisory.
Reimbursement of fees for IPR filings up to ₹5 lakh for foreign patents and ₹1 lakh for domestic patents.
Offers training, awareness, workshops, pilot studies, and international exchange programs.

What is the Intellectual Property Right Scheme?

It helps MSME with IPR issues and it also sets up Intellectual Property Facilitation Centres (IPFCs) across Bharat to guide MSME.
It helps with patents, trademarks, copyrights, designs, geographical indications (GI)
It provides advisory & consultation by IPFCS ( commercialisation, tech gap, patentability searches )
It provides facilities for training, seminars, and interactive workshops on IPR.

Financial Assistance Under the Scheme

Components

Assistance provided

Intellectual Property Facilitation Centres (IPFC)

To help IPFC with their work a grant of up to Rs 1 crore will be provided on milestone basis
IPFC will be actin as Implementing agencies (IA) there period will be for 3 years and they can renew after that

Reimbursement of registration fee for IPR through IPFC

For Domestic patent 100% cost reimbursed (subject to max up to Rs 1 lakh)
For Foreign patent 100% cost reimbursed (subject to max up to Rs 5 lakhs)
For GI registration 100% cost reimbursed (subject to max up to 2 lakhs)
For Design registration 100% cost reimbursed (subject to max up to Rs 15,000)
For Trademark registration 100% cost reimbursed (subject to max up to Rs 10,000)
It is a 1 time support from Govt. It does not cover cost of of renewal or correction or updation in application of IPR.

Eligibility for Intellectual Property Right Scheme

You are eligible if:

You are a registered MSME unit and have Udyam
You seek to file or protect patents, trademarks, designs, or geographical indications.
You want to participate in IPR training
You seek advisory & consultation services

You are not eligible if:

You do not have a valid MSME registration.
You are not looking for help with IPR issues

Copy of patent/trademark/Design/GI registration certificate
Copy of bank mandate form
Bills/vouchers in original
