Project Funding

100% of project cost for approved infrastructure projects

If a state proposes a ₹40 crore water-supply project and it fits NESIDS guidelines, the entire ₹40 crore can be funded by the Centre.

Eligible Sectors

Roads, bridges, power, water supply, health, education, tourism facilities

Example: A remote district requiring a bridge for market access can receive full funding under NESIDS to build the structure.

Project Cost Range

Typically medium to large infrastructure proposals (often ₹10 crore–₹200 crore or higher)

If a ₹150 crore road project is proposed and meets criteria, it may be sanctioned fully under NESIDS.

Implementation Timeline

Projects must be executed within approved time schedule with monitoring

Example: A project sanctioned in FY 2025-26 may need to be completed within 24–36 months depending on design and location challenges.

Funding Release

Released in phases based on milestones and utilisation certificates

After 40% of the work is completed and certified, the next instalment is released for further implementation.

Option 2: Official Government Route

  1. State Government prepares a Detailed Project Report (DPR).
  2. Submit proposal to MDoNER / NEC via the state’s Planning/Development Department.
  3. Screening by MDoNER/NEC for:Feasibility & economic viability, Gap-filling relevance, Technical soundness and Alignment with NESIDS focus areas
  4. Approved proposals go to the Project Steering Committee (PSC).
  5. Funds released in phases based on UC, progress reports & physical milestones.

Option 3: Central Ministry-Led Projects

Ministries executing NE infrastructure projects may apply for NESIDS support to supplement or fill funding gaps.
