Reimbursement of Hall Rent
The “Reimbursement of Hall Rent” scheme is administered by the MSME Trade & Investment Promotion Bureau (M‑TIPB) under the Government of Tamil Nadu (via the Department of Industries & Commerce and MSME wing). The purpose is to assist registered MSME associations in Tamil Nadu with part of the cost incurred for hiring halls/venues for exhibitions, trade fairs or business-promotion-events. Your MSME association (or group of MSMEs) can benefit by reducing the upfront venue-rent cost, thereby enabling you to host or participate in exhibitions more affordably.
Key Features
- 50% reimbursement of hall-rent expenses: Under this scheme, MSME associations in Tamil Nadu can claim reimbursement equal to half (50 %) of the cost they pay for hiring a hall/venue for an exhibition or event. This helps reduce their cost burden and encourages organising or participation in business-promotion events.
- Different ceiling limits depending on location: The reimbursement percentage remains 50 %, but the maximum cap of benefit depends on where the event is held. For example:
- In Chennai: maximum ceiling is INR 7.5 lakh per event.
- In districts of Tamil Nadu (other than Chennai): ceiling is INR 1.5 lakh per event.
- For MSME associations of Tamil Nadu holding the event in other states (outside Tamil Nadu): also up to INR 7.5 lakh per exhibition.
- Applicable only for MSME associations: The scheme is targeted at registered MSME associations (groups of micro & small enterprises), not typically individual enterprise claims under this specific hall-rent reimbursement. The association must be registered, in existence for a certain period, and have a membership (minimum number of MSE units).
- Post-event reimbursement process: The association must organise/participate in the event, pay the hall/venue rent, maintain evidence (invoice/receipt), then apply for the reimbursement. The payment is on a reimbursement basis – i.e., cost incurred first, claim submitted later.
- Focus on marketing/promotional exhibitions: The objective is specifically to assist with exhibitions, trade-fairs, business-promotion events (where halls are hired and multiple MSMEs display/promote products). This scheme supports the marketing side of MSME operations rather than production. mtipb-master.s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com
