Scheme for Small Road Transport Operators (SRTOs)
Scheme for Small Road Transport Operators (SRTOs) is a Government of Puducherry scheme implemented through the Puducherry Industrial Promotion and Development Corporation (PIPDIC) in coordination with the District Industries Centre (DIC). The scheme provides term loan assistance for purchasing new transport vehicles, enabling individuals and MSMEs to enter or expand in the road transport sector.
The objective is to promote self-employment, mobility, and logistics services by reducing the financial burden of vehicle acquisition. For you as an MSME or transport entrepreneur, this scheme helps you start or scale a transport business with structured institutional finance instead of informal borrowing.
Key Features
- Support for transport entrepreneurs: The scheme enables individuals and small businesses to enter the transport sector with formal financing support.
- Coverage of multiple vehicle types: You can finance goods carriers (like trucks, tempos) or passenger vehicles (like minibuses), depending on your business model.
- Focus on new vehicles only: The scheme ensures quality and operational efficiency by funding only brand-new vehicles.
- Structured loan-based assistance: Financial support is provided as a term loan, ensuring disciplined repayment and business sustainability.
- Encouragement for MSME growth: It supports both first-time entrepreneurs and existing operators looking to expand their fleet.
