Udyogini Scheme
The Udyogini Scheme is administered by the Karnataka State Women’s Development Corporation , Government of Karnataka. Its purpose is to enable women entrepreneurs in Karnataka to become self-reliant and economically independent by supporting self-employment or small business ventures. Under this scheme, women are assisted with bank loans and subsidies so that they can set up or expand income-generation activities. Your enterprise can benefit from this scheme by accessing subsidised financial assistance, training and support if you qualify as a woman entrepreneur in Karnataka.
Key Features
- Collateral-free loan facility for eligible women entrepreneurs: Under this scheme, the women beneficiaries are encouraged to apply for bank loans or through participating banks/financial institutions with minimal or no collateral required, thereby lowering the barrier of access.
- Loan amount typically from ₹ 1 lakh to ₹ 3 lakh : The scheme sets the unit cost (i.e., cost of project/machine etc) generally between ₹ 1 lakh to ₹ 3 lakh for many categories. For example, one source mentions “unit cost from ₹ 1.00 lakh to maximum of ₹ 3.00 lakhs”.
- Government subsidy on the loan amount: Depending on the beneficiary’s category:
- SC/ST women: subsidy of up to 50% of the loan amount for specified projects.
- Special category women or general category women: subsidy of around 30% (or 20% for general category in older guidelines) of project cost/loan amount.
- Income limits apply: To ensure benefit targeting weaker sections, family income thresholds are specified: e.g., for general/special category women income limit up to ₹ 1.5 lakh ; for SC/ST women up to ₹ 2 lakh. Widows/disabled may have no income cap.
- Age limit for beneficiary: Many sources state age between 18 and 55 years for the woman applicant.
- Mandatory Entrepreneurship Development Programme training: Before disbursement of loan/subsidy, selected beneficiaries undergo EDP training covering business planning, accounting, materials management etc.
- Eligible business activities: The scheme supports a wide range of small scale or manufacturing or service or trade activities.
