National Awards Scheme
The National MSME Awards Scheme is run by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises , Government of India. The scheme is designed to recognise and honour outstanding performance by MSMEs, across manufacturing and services sectors, as well as contributions by states/UTs, banks and aspirational districts. The purpose of the scheme is to motivate entrepreneurs in the MSME sector, drive innovation, quality, exports and inclusive growth. As an MSME, your business can benefit from the prestige, recognition and the cash prize associated with the award, which can enhance credibility and visibility.
Key Features
- Recognition across multiple categories: The scheme covers manufacturing entrepreneurship, service entrepreneurship and special categories such as women entrepreneurs, SC/ST entrepreneurs, differently-abled (Divyang) entrepreneurs and enterprises from North-Eastern Region (NER). This means your business can apply under a category that fits its profile.
- Cash prize with trophy and certificate: Award winners receive a trophy, certificate and a cash prize. For example, for the 2024 awards, first prize winners may receive Rs 3 lakh, second prize Rs 2 lakh, third prize Rs 1 lakh for key categories.
- Eligibility via Udyam registration and performance criteria: To apply, your enterprise must have a valid Udyam registration number. The details will be verified against the Udyam database. Also environmental clearances or industrial licence conditions must be satisfied as applicable.
- Institutional category awards: Apart from MSMEs, the scheme also honours States/UTs, Aspirational Districts and Banks for their support and promotion of MSMEs. For example awards to banks for excellence in lending to micro and small enterprises.
- Online application through dedicated portal: Applications are invited online through the award portal (National Awards portal) where you as an MSME can register and submit your details.
- Restriction on subsequent awards: If your enterprise wins an award in a certain category, it shall not be nominated or considered for the same or lower category in the next four years. However, it may still vie for a higher category.
