Promotion of Energy Audit and Conservation of Energy (PEACE)
The PEACE Scheme is run by the Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Tamil Nadu (MSME Department), Government of Tamil Nadu. It was introduced under the State’s MSME Policy (2021) to promote energy efficiency in manufacturing MSME units across Tamil Nadu. The purpose of the scheme is to incentivise MSMEs to conduct detailed energy audits and to implement the audit recommendations (retrofit, new technology, equipment) so as to reduce energy consumption, power costs and improve competitiveness. Your enterprise can benefit by getting subsidies for audit cost and for implementing energy-saving measures.
Key Features
- Subsidy for Detailed Energy Audit: The scheme covers part of the cost of engaging a qualified energy auditor (BEE-empanelled) to conduct a detailed energy audit of your manufacturing unit.
- Subsidy for Implementation of Audit Recommendations: After completing the audit, if you implement the recommended energy conservation measures (equipment retrofit/replacement, new technology, etc), the scheme subsidises part of the implementation cost.
- Eligibility Condition of Energy Savings: To qualify for implementation subsidy, your unit must achieve a specified percentage of energy savings (e.g., 10% or more) in specific energy consumption (units per product) as per audit.
- Training & Awareness Programmes: The scheme also includes components of awareness building and training of MSME personnel for energy management (though the main financial incentives are audit and implementation).
- Manufacturing Focus: The scheme is aimed at manufacturing MSME units (not service enterprises) in Tamil Nadu.
- Application and Claim Time-limits: There are time-limits for filing claims after audit completion and after implementation of recommendations.
