Stamp duty exemption on land

100% exemption

Example: If you lease or purchase a parcel of land for a solar park, you pay no stamp duty, lowering capital cost.

Electricity duty exemption

100% exemption for 10 years

Example: If your solar project’s electricity duty would be say ₹ 50 lakhs/year, you save this cost for first ten years.

State subsidy for solar + storage

₹ 2.50 crore per MW (for utility scale solar systems with 4-hour battery storage)

Example: If you invest in a 10 MW solar plant + battery storage, you could avail subsidy ≈ ₹ 25 crore (subject to eligibility).

Lease of government land

Lease terms up to 30 years at favourable rates

Example: A solar park may get land lease for 30 years from a government agency rather than full land purchase — easing upfront burden.

Option 2: Online Application via UPNEDA / Nivesh Portal

  1. Visit the official portal of UPNEDA or the state investment portal (e.g., the Nivesh Mitra Portal of Uttar Pradesh) and register your project.
  2. Upload the application form along with required documents (DPR, land lease, financial sanction, etc.).
  3. Choose project type (utility-scale, rooftop, captive/third-party) and apply for incentives as per the policy.
  4. After submission, UPNEDA will review, issue letter of intent / approval. Once commissioning and compliance are verified, incentives are released.

Option 3: Offline / Hybrid Route

  1. Collect a physical application form from UPNEDA’s office or state energy department.
  2. Attach printed copies of documents (DPR, land lease/ownership, sanction letter, etc.).
  3. Submit to UPNEDA or designated nodal agency; follow up with field inspection and approval.
  4. Post-commissioning, claim relevant subsidies and exemptions as per the policy.
